Fighting Intensifies Between US and Iran as Diplomatic Efforts Continue

Military confrontation between the United States and Iran continued on Monday despite renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing a wider regional war.
The latest escalation came as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced what it described as the 22nd wave of its retaliatory military campaign, claiming to have launched drone strikes against the United States’ Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait. According to the IRGC, the operation targeted an early-warning radar system, an aircraft equipment warehouse, and facilities housing MQ-9 drones, causing significant damage.
The Iranian military statement also called on the people of Kuwait to oppose the continued presence of US forces on their territory, arguing that American military bases have been used to launch attacks against Iran and other countries in the region.
The United States has not publicly confirmed Iran’s claims regarding the extent of damage at Ali Al-Salem Air Base. Independent verification of the reported strikes remains unavailable.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned what it described as continued US attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure. Speaking during a weekly press briefing in Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei accused Washington of targeting facilities essential to civilian life in several Iranian provinces.
“An attack on infrastructure is not merely an attack on a few points on a map; it is an attack on human security and on people’s lives,” Baqaei said, while praising the resilience of the Iranian people and particularly residents of the country’s southern coastal regions.
Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, has also appealed to the UN Security Council to intervene, accusing Washington of repeatedly violating previous understandings and calling for international action to halt further military operations.
The continued exchange of attacks has raised concerns across the Middle East, with governments closely monitoring developments amid fears that the conflict could spread beyond Iran and US military installations.
Diplomatic contacts involving several regional and international actors have reportedly continued behind the scenes in an effort to reduce tensions. However, no officially confirmed ceasefire or peace agreement has been announced.
Analysts warn that the situation remains highly volatile, with both sides continuing military operations while political efforts to contain the crisis have yet to produce a breakthrough.
