Jigjiga (ANN) – The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has arrived in Jigjiga, the capital of Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State.
Preliminary reports indicate that Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is currently in Jigjiga holding meetings with officials from the United Arab Emirates, alongside President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Sources also confirm that Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh is expected to participate in a scheduled meeting with the two leaders.
The official purpose of the high-level talks has not been publicly disclosed.
However, Araweelo News Network’s (Associated Online Agencies) almost have received information suggesting that the discussions are linked to Ethiopia’s Prime Minister’s broader regional political initiative, amid growing geopolitical challenges in the Horn of Africa.
Sources further indicate that the meetings may involve consultations with regional political and intellectual actors, as governments seek to coordinate responses to shifting alliances and rising political tensions in the region.
