Tehran- Washington (ANN)- In a dramatic and fast-moving 24-hour period, tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have escalated, with conflicting statements from the United States and Iran raising serious concerns about global energy security and maritime safety.
A Sudden Opening — Then Uncertainty
The situation began on Friday afternoon when Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, announced via social media that the Strait of Hormuz would remain “completely open” for the duration of an ongoing ceasefire period. Hours later, Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, strongly rejected Trump’s claims, labeling them “false.” He warned that if the U.S. blockade continues, Iran would reconsider keeping the Strait open.
