Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei Vows Revenge for Martyred Leader as Hormuz Maritime Talks Resume

TEHRAN/MUSCAT (ANN) – Iran’s Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has vowed that Iran will avenge the death of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and other senior figures killed during the recent conflict.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said punishing those responsible for what he described as the martyrdom of Iran’s leaders is a national demand that “cannot be withdrawn or forgotten.” His remarks came in a new message issued as U.S. President Donald Trump renewed warnings toward Iran, raising concerns over regional tensions.
Meanwhile, commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has slowed again following attacks this week, while international mediators continue efforts to revive negotiations between Iran and the United States.
On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in Muscat for talks with Omani officials focused on ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Tasnim, Araqchi’s visit forms part of ongoing bilateral consultations on regional developments, particularly maritime security in the strategic waterway.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said the discussions would focus on establishing practical mechanisms to guarantee safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in line with Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Baqaei said Iran and Oman have been conducting consultations over the past two months on implementing maritime arrangements outlined in the agreement that ended the recent conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Under the MoU, Iran has assumed responsibility for restoring normal maritime procedures and providing navigation-related services in the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Oman. He added that several rounds of technical meetings have already been held in both Tehran and Muscat, with Araqchi’s latest visit aimed at advancing those discussions and facilitating the safe and uninterrupted passage of international shipping through one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.
