IRGC Claims Missile and Drone Strikes on US Bases in Bahrain and Kuwait Following Alleged American Airstrikes

TEHRAN (ANN)– Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that it had launched a large-scale missile and drone operation targeting United States military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait, describing the attacks as retaliation for what it called fresh American airstrikes on Iranian territory.
According to a statement released by the IRGC and carried by Tasnim News Agency, Iranian forces struck 85 US military targets, including facilities associated with the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. The IRGC also claimed that its forces shot down an American MQ-9 drone that allegedly attempted to interfere with the operation.
The IRGC said the military action followed what it described as US violations of a ceasefire and the “Islamabad understanding,” alleging that American aircraft carried out strikes against several coastal bases and civilian sites along Iran’s southern coastline early Wednesday.
The statement further asserted that the joint operation involved both the IRGC Aerospace Force and Navy, targeting strategic US military positions across the Gulf region.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iranian media reported explosions near Sirik County and Qeshm Island in Hormozgan Province. A correspondent for the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said several people were injured after projectiles struck the fishing and commercial port of Sirik.
Officials from Hormozgan’s ports and maritime administration also reported black smoke rising near Bandar Abbas, claiming that projectiles hit the city’s fishing pier and ignited several civilian fishing boats.
The United States had not immediately commented on the IRGC’s claims or confirmed any attacks on its military facilities at the time of publication.
The reported developments mark a further escalation in tensions following the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump on April 7, which preceded negotiations toward a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that any attack on Iranian territory would be met with what they describe as a decisive military response.
