TEHRAN (ANN)— Iranian state and semi-official media reported a new wave of explosions across several parts of the country on Tuesday, amid escalating military tensions between the United States and Iran.
According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, US aircraft struck Qeshm Island in southern Iran, citing local officials. Authorities said there were no reported casualties or damage to residential or commercial buildings.
The semi-official Fars News Agency also reported several explosions in the southwestern city of Ahvaz, while Tasnim News Agency said an American missile exploded near a water and electricity facility on Kish Island.
Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB further reported another explosion in the southwestern city of Andimeshk, although no additional details were immediately available.
The latest incidents come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital shipping route through which a significant share of the world’s oil exports passes.
The United States and Iran have exchanged military strikes in recent days, raising concerns about broader regional instability. Despite the escalation, diplomatic efforts continue. Pakistan has been mediating talks between the two countries, seeking to secure a lasting peace agreement and reduce the risk of further conflict.
Independent verification of the reported strikes and explosions has not yet been possible, and US officials had not immediately commented on the Iranian media reports at the time of publication.
