Mekelle(ANN)-Getachew Reda, a member of the Tigray Central Command (TPLF) fighting the Ethiopian Federal Government forces in collaboration with Eritrean and Amhara militias, spoke about the current fighting situation.

He also spoke about the recent airstrikes in Mekelle, the capital of Tigray state, over the past two days.

Getachew Reda, the TPLF’s permanent spokesman, spoke confidently about the situation, the latest developments in the war and the prospect of an end to the conflict, and with both sides sitting at the negotiating table.

Tigray Television, run by the Tigrean People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), gave a live interview on Thursday. Reda said the attack on Mekelle town centre did not deter TDF fighters from retreating from key areas in the Amhara and Afar regions, and that they would not change their plans. He pointed out Abiy Ahmed to the regime of repression and genocide, but will not be left out and will be held accountable.

. The interview, which asked direct questions about the tragic events of the war and diplomatic channels, came at a time when Prime Minister Abiy’s government was facing embarrassment and diplomatic blows in the wake of recent airstrikes. Following strong criticism from the United States, Britain, the United Nations and the rest of the world, Tigray was declared a no-fly zone.

The Ethiopian federal government has claimed that Mekelle’s attacks targeted buildings where Tigrean troops were repairing weapons. But a TPLF spokesman, however, made it clear that there was nothing wrong with the debate and that the targeted areas were inhabited by poor people and children.

In an interview with Tigrai Television, run by the Tigrean People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) on Thursday, Getachew Reda directly criticized the Abiy government for committing genocide and other humanitarian crises.
