ANKARA — US President Donald Trump told reporters during the NATO Summit in Ankara that the ceasefire and memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached with Iran had “finished,” adding that Washington has re-established contact with Tehran.
Trump, who received a high-profile welcome in the Turkish capital, made the remarks amid growing concerns that hostilities between Iran and its regional adversaries could escalate once again.
His visit comes as regional tensions have intensified following Iranian media reports claiming that missile and drone attacks targeted US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. The reported strikes were described by Iranian outlets as retaliation for alleged American military action against Iran.
Meanwhile, overnight reports also indicated renewed aerial exchanges between Israel and Iran, raising fears that the fragile pause in hostilities could collapse and trigger a wider regional conflict.
Neither US nor Israeli authorities had immediately confirmed the reported attacks or provided official assessments of the latest military developments at the time of publication.
The evolving situation has renewed international concern over stability in the Middle East, with diplomatic efforts expected to remain under intense pressure as governments seek to prevent a broader regional confrontation
