The Dignity of Mankind and the Global Threats Surrounding this Modern World
This is a profoundly important topic, one that touches on human dignity, moral conscience, health and collective responsibility. Human dignity is the ultimate symbol of a civilized nation guided by ethics, intellect and compassion. When people lose their sense of morality, they lose the honor that God has bestowed upon them.
In today’s world, alarming behaviors are eroding this dignity, selling expired medicines, chemically treated foods, and toxic drinks. These practices cause widespread diseases, deaths and moral decay.
The Dignity of Mankind
The Qur’an declares: “ Indeed, We have honored the children of Adam…”
(Surah Al-Isra: 70)
Human dignity is a divine gift, a recognition of our intellect, conscience and moral capacity to distinguish between right and wrong, lawful and unlawful, beneficial and harmful.
But dignity is not a title given, it is a responsibility that every individual must safeguard themselves and others from harm, injustice and deceit. True honor lies in compassion and moral restraint.
This Modern World humanity faces a deep moral crisis:
• Wars without purpose, where human blood is shed for greed and power.
• Expired medicines sold for profit, ignoring the sanctity of life.
• Expired foods and drinks repackaged and resold to unsuspecting people.
• Spoiled milk and beverages chemically revived to appear fresh and original.
• Technology misused for deception, manipulation and exploitation.
These are signs of a world that has lost its moral compass. Prophetic traditions warned that in the end times, people will destroy themselves with their own hands and kill one another for worldly greed.
Health and Social Hazards
a. Expired Medicines lose their effectiveness and may turn into toxic substances, cause poisoning, liver and kidney damage and severe chronic diseases and so using such drugs knowingly is a crime and moral betrayal.
b. Expired Foods and Dairy cause gastrointestinal diseases, vomiting, diarrhea and bacterial infections and
Chemically treated foods lead to cancer and long-term health deterioration or deaths.
c. Expired Beverages often restored with artificial chemicals that damage the liver, brain and nervous system.
d. Chemical Preservation Substances like formalin, sodium benzoate, hydrogen peroxide, nitrates/nitrites and benzoic acid are sometimes added to foods to make them look fresh,!yet they are deadly toxins. Meat and fish treated with such chemicals may appear edible but are silent killers.
Underlying Causes
• Moral decay and greed as many prioritize money over human life.
• Weak governance: Poor inspection and regulatory systems.
• Corruption, Traders exploit public ignorance and negligence for quick profit.
• Lack of awareness, many consumers are unaware of the dangers and risks.
Solutions and Recommendations
A. Government Level
1. Establish strict quality inspection and enforcement mechanisms.
2. Enact severe penalties for selling expired or toxic products.
3. Conduct nationwide public health campaigns and awarenesses.
4. Strengthen Food and Drugs quality control Authorities.
B. Community Level
1. Always check expiry dates before purchase.
2. Avoid cheap products from unverified sources.
3. Encourage collective awareness and accountability.
4. Foster government and community cooperation for public safety.
C. Personal Level
1. Practice honesty, compassion and moral restraint.
2. Upholding trust, integrity and fear of Allaah is the true cure for moral corruption and human safety.
Conclusion
In our world , first we must return to moral conscience and human dignity.
Secondly, Technology and profit should serve life, not destroy it.
Thirdly, Human dignity is greater than wealth, trade or self-interest.
Better we, read and recite the wholly Quran saying: “ Whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all mankind.” (Qur’an 5:32)
