Who is Hamed Jama?
The translator, literate and political thinker

Hamed Jama  was born in Critter city in Aden in 1948 AD. He studied primary and preparatory stages at Al-Khassaf School, and finished his secondary education at Aden College, which was one of the most prestigious schools at that period, the student Hamed was one of the first students to excel in all his academic stages.

One of the literary, cultural, political, journalistic and media figures, Mr. Hamid Jameh describes the way in the history of Aden. He held a number of jobs in the fields of translation and journalism, and served his city of Aden through his work in the ministries of culture and media, in addition to his activities, writings and translations published in the magazine «Hikma» published by the Union of Yemeni Literature and Writers, and later in the newspaper «Altejmaa» for the language of the Yemeni Unity Party, where he was one of its pillars In its first release appeared in the nineties.

The late Hamed Jamey practiced political activity early on through his membership in the (People’s Democratic Alliance) under the leadership of the late Abdullah Badib, then he was a founder and member of the (Yemeni Unified Party) which represented him a political home and shelter. Among the first to attend the unified assembly were a number of fighters, most prominent of them was the deceased Omar Al-Jawi, and the deceased Dr. Abdul Rahman, Abdullah Ibrahim, Wd. Abu Bakr Al-Saqaf, Khaled Fadl Mansour, and others.

Hamed Jameh is one of the best translators in Aden and the country in general, and he has many translated works, some of them have been printed and others are still pending. In 1988, he published a book translated in English as “Cases of the Age” of the Socialist Party, from the intellectual magazine “Castro Wal Din”. He also translated the second part of David Smiley’s book “Mission in the Arabian Island”, which relates to the situation of Yemen in the 1980s, and also a third book titled “The Last Site”, which is a translation of the diary of an English officer and politician who took his final years in Aden.

Hamed left Jama Dunyana on Monday 29/7/2019 silently, away from the noise and lights as he liked. The simple people of Aden carried his immaculate body to his final resting place, in his 40th anniversary was commemorated by the presence of politicians and writers, among them the Federation of Literature and Writers, and former President Ali Nasser Mohammed, thanks to many condolences, highlighted by former President Abdirba Mansour Hadi. Dozens of articles in newspapers were also written in the mourning of the writer, thinker, translator, and diner who passed through us.
