Stockholm(ANN)-At least three people have lost their lives after a truck drove into a department store in the central part of the Swedish capital, police say, with authorities treating the incident as a terror attack.

Swedish intelligence agency said that “a large number” of people had also been injured in the Friday crash, which took place on the central street of Drottninggatan of Stockholm.

The agency added that it considered the incident as an attack.

The Swedish police said on their website that no arrests had been made.

“No one has been arrested currently,” the police said in a statement. “Given what has happened in other parts of Europe, we cannot currently exclude that this is a terrorist crime.”

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven also said everything indicates that the truck ramming into pedestrians and crashing into the department store is “a terror attack.”

“Sweden has been attacked. This indicates that it is an act of terror,” Lofven said.

Swedish broadcaster SVT also reported that shots had been fired.

The Swedish news agency TT said many people have been rushed away in ambulances and live television footage showed smoke rising out from the department store that the truck smashed into.

The news agency quoted property owner Jernhusen as saying that police had ordered the evacuation of the central train station in Stockholm.
