Somaliland Hargeisa (ANN)- The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) who today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Mr. Gideon Sa’ar and a hevy delegation led by him after a historic visit to the Presidential Palacecame to the Republic of Somaliland.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of IsraelGideon Sa’ar and the President of Somaliland Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro) in a closed door meeting without the presence of the media, they spoke together about the issues they discussed.
Accodring to Presidential estated The president, speaking on his behalf, the nation and the people of Somaliland Republic, first of all thanked the government and the people of Israel for the brave decision to recognize the Republic of Somaliland, describing it as having a diplomatic, financial and economic impactdevelopment that greatly affects the Republic of Somaliland, the Horn of Africa region and the world.
The president said that today is a great day for the Republic of Somaliland, underlining that the recognition of Israel strengthens the role of the Republic of Somaliland in maintaining peace, stability, democracy, freedom of speech and cooperation between the two countries, and hepromoting cooperation based on the strategic interests of the two countries.
The President also said that the recognition opens wide opportunities related to investment, trade, technology, energy, water, mining, agriculture and the development of economic infrastructure in the Republic of Somaliland.
The president of the Republic of Somaliland declared that the Republic of Somaliland is ready to cooperate and cooperate in many aspects with the country of Israel and other countries that are interested in the importance and strategy of Somaliland.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Mr. Gideon Sa’ar stated that his government is happy with the full recognition given to the Republic of Somaliland, and is ready to have a close relationship with the Republic of Somaliland in many aspectswhich is useful and effective for both countries and the two peoples of Israel and Somaliland.Likewise, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Gideon Sa’ar underlined that the recognition of the Republic of Somaliland is a decision based on the right of self-determination of the people of Somaliland, the interests of long-term security and stability in the Horn of Africa. The minister praised the Somaliland government for its functioning democracy, the peace it has built on its internal security, and the role it plays in the general stability of the Horn of Africa region.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Gideon Sa’ar has clearly stated that his government is committed to present to the international community, and at the same time to confirm the historical background and independence of the Republic of Somaliland, which has been ignored for a long time.
The minister Gideon Sa’ar noted that the cooperation between Somaliland and Israel is an example of how a responsible government can contribute to international security, sustainable development and coexistence based on mutual interests and respect for nations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Gideon Sa’ar has clearly stated that the Government of Israel was with the Republic of Somaliland in the past and recognized it on 26.06.1960, and now it is with it and recognized it on 26.12.2025, and in the future it stands by its side.

This historic visit, which was the first visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Republic of Somaliland in 34 years, carries a diplomatic weight, a strategic meaning and a very important security content, as it coincided with thisa new stage and a fruitful relationship that has begun for the two countries of Somaliland and IsraelAlso, the visit of the Israeli delegation to Somaliland is directly related to the courageous decision of the Israeli Government on 26.12.2025 to officially recognize the independence of the Republic of Somaliland.
Finally, the President of the Republic of Somaliland assured the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel that the Republic of Somaliland is a reliable friend and is located in a strategic location that is important for the future of peace and security in the Horn of Africa region and in general The universe.
