Washington / Tehran / Tel Aviv (ANN) – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced that the United States Central Command carried out what he described as one of the most powerful bombing operations in the history of the Middle East, targeting military facilities on Kharg Island in Iran.
In a statement released from the White House, Trump said U.S. forces had “totally obliterated” military targets on the strategic island, which is widely known as a key energy and logistical hub in the Persian Gulf.
However, the U.S. president said he had deliberately chosen not to destroy the island’s oil infrastructure, warning that the decision could change if shipping through the Strait of Hormuz were threatened.
