Tehran (ANN)-Iran has formally responded to a 15-point proposal presented by the United States, signaling readiness for engagement but under strict conditions, according to a source cited by Tasnim News Agency.
The response, delivered through intermediaries on Wednesday night, outlines Tehran’s key demands while indicating it is now awaiting Washington’s reply.
Iran’s Core Conditions
According to the source, Iran’s position centers on several non-negotiable requirements:
An immediate end to what it describes as assassination campaigns and aggressive actions
Binding guarantees to prevent any future war
Clear mechanisms for compensation and war reparations
A comprehensive end to hostilities across all fronts, including allied regional groups
Tehran also reaffirmed its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a “natural and legal right” and a critical component in ensuring compliance with any future agreement.
The source noted that these conditions go beyond issues raised in earlier nuclear discussions held in Geneva shortly before the outbreak of the recent conflict.
Deepening Distrust
Despite engaging in indirect communication, Iranian officials appear highly skeptical of U.S. intentions. The source characterized Washington’s diplomatic posture as a “third deception,” accusing it of pursuing multiple strategic objectives under the cover of negotiations:
Projecting a peaceful image internationally
Keeping global oil prices stable
Buying time to prepare for potential new military operations
The skepticism, the source added, has deepened significantly following what it described as repeated instances of negotiations coinciding with military escalation, including during the so-called 12-day war in 2025.
