Tehran, April 5, 2026 (Araweelo News Network / IRNA) — The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has issued a renewed warning over the potential regional consequences of ongoing attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, saying neighboring countries had already been alerted to the risks.
In an interview with Iran’s official news agency, spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi stated that repeated strikes by the United States and Israel on nuclear infrastructure could trigger serious human and environmental disasters across West Asia.
Kamalvandi said Iran, through its Foreign Ministry, had formally notified regional countries about the dangers posed by such military actions and urged them to take preventive measures.
He revealed that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant had been targeted four times in recent weeks. However, he emphasized that no casualties, structural damage, or radioactive leaks had occurred due to what he described as “extensive safety and protective measures.”
Other major facilities, including Natanz Nuclear Facility, Ardakan Nuclear Facility, and Khondab Nuclear Site, were also reportedly protected from significant damage or contamination.

The AEOI spokesperson criticized the international community’s response, expressing concern over what he called a lack of action from the United Nations Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

He noted that neither the IAEA Board of Governors nor its leadership had issued strong condemnations regarding the attacks on nuclear sites that fall under international monitoring frameworks.
“These aggressions constitute a clear violation of international law and established global norms,” Kamalvandi said, calling for accountability and stronger international intervention.

The developments come amid escalating hostilities between Iran and the United States and Israel, with repeated strikes and counter-strikes raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
Analysts warn that continued targeting of nuclear infrastructure could heighten the risk of environmental catastrophe, potentially impacting multiple countries across the region.
