Hargeisa (ANN)-The Somaliland House of Representatives accused Somalia of violating Somaliland’s sovereignty by establishing a so-called “Northeast” regional administration, seen as an attempt to undermine Somaliland’s existence and unity.
Accodring In a fiery session today, the Somaliland House of Representatives, chaired by First Deputy Speaker Hon. Said Farah Mire Giire, after held they robust debate condemning what they described as an aggressive incursion by the Federal Government of Somalia into Somaliland’s eastern regions, particularly in the Sool and Eastern sanag region.
The members of lawmakers expressed outrage over the actions of Somalia’s Federal government under President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accusing it of deliberately destabilizing Somaliland’s peace and sovereignty.
They underline and pointed to Federal Somalia’s alleged arming of proxy groups and exploitation of clan divisions in the eastern Sool and Sanaag regions as evidence of bad faith.
Therefore, the representatives of Somaliland, in a united stance, the council sent a message to the Somaliland community, calling on them to unite in defense of their nationhood and territorial integrity, emphasizing national unity in the face of external threats.
The House of Somaliland Legislative, pressed President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi’s Goverment to swiftly implement a comprehensive strategy—encompassing political, security, and diplomatic measures—to counter Somalia’s ongoing interference.
Also, the lawmakers stressed the need for immediate action to safeguard Somaliland’s eastern borders and maintain national stability.
After a long debate underscored a growing sense of national urgency, and they, warning that Somalia’s actions threaten not only Somaliland’s security, but also the broader stability of the Horn of Africa.
