Addis Ababa(ANN)- The Ethiopian government has spoken strongly with Egypt, at a time when the water dispute between the two countries is intensifying in the Nile River.
“Ethiopia has no place for the thoughts of the colonial era of Egypt” – according Ethiopian Foreign Affairs stated in the statement.
Ethiopia has no place for the wrong idea that Egypt follows on the Nile river, which is being followed by colonial ideology.
The minister said in his statement regarding the current issue, the Egyptian authorities who are in colonial times are still reflecting the wrong stance on the Nile river.
The minister also stated that the country’s authorities put aside the bilateral agreements and are spreading directly or indirectly on Ethiopia is not acceptable.
The minister’s statement that the Egyptian government is making unnecessary interference in the Horn of Africa, including Ethiopia; Ethiopia will not accept this wrong and outdated approach.
The statement said that Ethiopia is a country with a long and proud history supporting Pan Africanism and anti colonial struggles in the continent; Egypt as a country has no place for the wrong ideas that follow on the Nile river.
The statement stated that the river Nile originates from several parts of Ethiopia and 86 percent of the Nile’s water flows from Ethiopia; Ethiopia has the right to use this natural resource like other countries.
The minister stated that Ethiopia that is working by respecting international laws does not have to ask permission from anyone to use the natural resources found in its borders.
The minister who said that Egypt has repeatedly rejected talks and negotiations, said the country is busy organizing conflicts and spreading hate speeches.
This irresponsible act should be condemned by all concerned parties, the minister also stressed.
Projects like the great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam are examples of self-reliance and development not only Ethiopia but also Africa’s self-reliance. The minister’s statement stated that Ethiopia is ready to work with all countries in the framework of development and cooperation.
According to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in the statement that Ethiopia will stand firm to ensure that it works on justice based solutions that benefit all to meet the needs of the current and future generations.According to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in the statement.
