Jama Adan, the international athlete who returned to his country Somaliland, became an advocate for rural life and urban development.
Jama Adan, also known as (Jaamac Karaaciin), achieved international level sports, 34 world record championships 18 world world records in different categories 4 Olympic medals.
When he returned to his country Somaliland. he played an unforgettable and visible role in the development of social services and the encouragement of rural and urban life.

Jama became a promoter of sports and investment in the country, and he longed for rural life, where he herded camels.
Scholar Najib Ahmed Shunuf described Jama as a person worthy of imitation and of great value to his country, who did a lot for his people, despite facing many obstacles that were intended to hinder his development and social integration.
“Jama Adan (Jamac Karaaciin) a high ranking sports coach who trained some of the best runners in the world who won so many gold medals in world championships and now lives in Burao Somaliland and invested his money in building modern hotels schools and sports training facilities and football facilities in all over eastern parts of Somaliland specifically remote areas that didn’t have any facilities before him. He built one of the biggest and modern hotels in Burao.
He’s a role model for many Somalilanders who want to come back to their hometown and invest their money there. We urge the new government to nominate him as a Somaliland Olympic coach because he have over forty years of experience of coaching in international competitions athletes who won hundreds of medals and awards.
He was the first Somali speaking person who won university running competitions in the 1970’s and after that he started coaching athletes from different parts of the world including Americans Ethiopians Somalilanders Kenyans and many others . He is now the remaining coach number one in coaching runners from all over the world. Somaliland should name streets after him and should give him awards and medals like the rest of world including the rich countries in the middle east including Oman king and Qatar leaders. We the people of Somaliland don’t respect our heroes and role models like him. We should teach our next generations about his accomplishments and achievements and should put his awards and medals in our Musiem

Jama Adan build some of the best soccer stadiums in Somaliland specially in the eastern who didn’t have one or any before. He also modern soccer facilities with rugs and greenery which they use now very affordable fees and entrance fee.

Coach Jama (Karaaciin) also started nomadic life he bought over 250 Camels in eastern Somaliland where he has a huge farm and grazing area for and hired many camel herdsmen to take good care of them.
He’s one of the diaspora Somalilander to create this kind of farm in which he gets fresh milk from the Camels and brings to his resort area outside of Burao city where people go to drink fresh camel milk traditional Somaliland food and listen to Qaaci music Kaban (Guitar)at nights and it became a very popular place in which all kinds of people go there to enjoy. He encourages many people to follow his footsteps and invest in their cities places like this. He is the first Somalilander to do so in the second capital city of Somaliland and many others should follow his footsteps in other cities. He’s a role model and a trail blazer.
