In an official statement, the UAE said it would never accept any military strike against Iran being launched through its territory or airspace, underscoring its position amid rising regional tensions.
The warning comes despite the UAE being one of the key members of the US-Israel alliance. At the same time, the UAE was also among the countries that joined the Gaza Peace Council announced by former US President Donald Trump during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Regional concerns have intensified following increased military movements by the United States, raising fears of a possible attack on Iran. In recent days, the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has moved into the Middle East region, fueling speculation that Washington may be preparing for military action—an option President Trump has repeatedly referenced, including during recent remarks in Saudi Arabia.
Several US allies have reportedly warned against launching an attack on Iran, while Iranian officials have threatened a strong response to any military aggression.
Questions have also emerged over whether the USS Abraham Lincoln will enter the Persian Gulf. According to US officials, the aircraft carrier is expected to remain in the Arabian Sea, where its constant movement would make it difficult to target. The Persian Gulf, by contrast, is a narrow and confined body of water, making large naval assets more vulnerable.
The Arabian Sea is part of the wider Indian Ocean and connects to the Persian Gulf through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global oil shipments. Most Gulf countries’ oil exports pass through the strait, which Iran has repeatedly threatened to close in the event of war.
Iranian authorities have continued to warn of the consequences of any US military strike. In recent weeks, Iran has experienced widespread unrest, with reports of arrests linked to protests, fatalities, and internet disruptions.
On Sunday, Tehran’s municipal authorities unveiled a large billboard in Enghelab (Revolution) Square in central Tehran, depicting a warning message directed at the USS Abraham Lincoln and its supporting warplanes operating near Iranian waters.
