Moscow (ANN)-US Envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow on Wednesday as President Donald Trump’s deadline for Russia to agree a ceasefire in Ukraine looms.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Steve Witkoff is on his last trip to Moscow. An apparent meeting is underway at the Kremlin between US envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Russian media.
The US president has said Russia could face hefty sanctions or see secondary sanctions imposed against all those who trade with it if it doesn’t take steps to end the “horrible war” with Ukraine.
His visit came amid growing fears that he could easily start a third war between the United States and its allies and Russia, which is backed by new nuclear-armed allies.
Fears of a third world war have intensified, with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously saying that a third world war has begun between Russia and the United States and its allies.
The visit of the US envoy to Moscow does not seem to change President Putin’s clear position, as Russia has always clearly defined its position on the Ukrainian conflict to Moscow.
On the other hand, the US position under President Trump has been changing from side to side. On the other hand, President Trump has previously said that he had sent two nuclear-powered submarines to the Russian coast, but Moscow has described this as a hoax. The Kremlin has said that it is not afraid of Trump’s claims, so it will not change its position on Ukraine.
The Kremlin downplayed Trump’s recent order of two US nuclear submarines near Russian waters, dismissing the move as “theatrics” and urging caution over nuclear rhetoric. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Russia prefers not to escalate and reiterated that “there can be no winner in a nuclear war,” calling for restraint on all sides.
