Hargeisa (ANN)- The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), has welcomed a delegation from the United States to his office at the Somaliland Presidential Palace in Hargeisa.
The spokesman for the President of Somaliland, Hussein Aden Igeh (Dayr), issued a brief press release on the meeting between the President and the US delegation, which did not provide many details about the purpose of the delegation’s trip, although this was not the first time that a delegation from the United States, consisting of Ambassadors and senior officials, including the Commander of the US Africa Command based in Djibouti, had paid such a visit to Somaliland and met with the President of Somaliland.
The press release added that the delegation, led by Ambassador Richard Riley, included the Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) General Michael Langley, senior US military officers and senior diplomats whose names were not mentioned in the press release.

“The visit of the US Delegation to the Republic of Somaliland demonstrates Somaliland’s commitment to strengthening defense, security, trade, and cooperation between the two sides,” said Hussein.
Likewise, the press release noted that the Somaliland Government warmly welcomes the visit of the delegation from the United States to the strategic port city of Berbera, to assess the quality of the infrastructure necessary to strengthen security and defense capabilities, as the United States Government is committed to maintaining stability in the region.
The Government of the Republic of Somaliland greatly appreciates the interest of the United States Government and its commitment to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
The press release concluded by noting that the Republic of Somaliland is committed to continuing and strengthening cooperation and collaboration between the United States and Somaliland, but the did not mention details about the developments in the field of cooperation.
On the other hand, although such a visit by the United States is not new to Somaliland, their visit at this time coincides with the worsening situation in the Middle East region, which has tensions escalate occurred in Iran and Israel, as well as the previous conflicts and crises in the region caused by the Israeli invasion of Gaza over the past twenty months, which has affected the Gulf of Aden, which crosses the Red Sea, and the Middle East region, as Somaliland, which is located at the Babel-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden, is of great importance for the stability of the region.
