Minneapolis(ANN)- Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar called for “real justice [to] bring about security and lasting peace” to Gaza, after Israel rocked the Strip with air strikes over the weekend.

Writing on Twitter, Omar said: “How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends?”

“The status quo of occupation and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is unsustainable. Only real justice can bring about security and lasting peace.”

Various US politicians were quick to condemn her words, fuelling calls for her to be moved from office. They included US President’s son Donald Trump Junior, who accused her of siding with Hamas.

“It’s deeply troubling that we’ve reached the point where no one is shocked when sitting members of congress, like @IlhanMN & @RashidaTlaib, side with Hamas terrorists over Israel,” he wrote.

While right-wing talk show host Ben Shapiro accused Omar of “defending genocidal Jew-hating terrorists right on cue.”

Some 27 Palestinians were killed after Israel once again devastated the already besieged Strip for three days. The dead included two babies, and two expectant mothers.
