UAE Mourns the Loss of Four Armed Forces Heroes in Somalia Terrorist Attack
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The somber morning skies over Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi bore witness to the arrival of the bodies of four valiant heroes of the UAE Armed Forces, who lost their lives in a tragic terrorist act in the Republic of Somalia. The fallen soldiers, Colonel Mohamed Al Mansouri, Warrant Officer 1 Mohamed Al Shamsi, Warrant Officer 1 Khalifa Al Balushi, and Corporal Suleiman Al Shehhi, were received with honors on a military aircraft belonging to the Armed Forces.
A poignant military ceremony unfolded at the airport, attended by dignitaries, senior leaders, and officers of the Ministry of Defence. The families and relatives of the martyrs were also present, their hearts heavy with grief.
The UAE Ministry of Defence (MoD) solemnly announced the martyrdom of three members of the UAE Armed Forces and an officer from the Bahrain Defence Force. The incident occurred in Somalia while the brave soldiers were fulfilling their mission to train and qualify the Somali Armed Forces, as part of a bilateral agreement between the UAE and the Republic of Somalia, contributing to the military cooperation between the two nations. Tragically, two other soldiers were injured, and one of them succumbed to injuries upon arrival.
In a heartfelt statement, the MoD extended its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, acknowledging their sacrifice and valor. The Ministry also expressed its wishes for a full and swift recovery for the injured soldiers, emphasizing the unwavering commitment of the UAE Armed Forces to international cooperation and peacekeeping missions.
